“Wo ho na ho jitna to unko hi hai” – Fans react as Gerald Coetzee gets ruled out of second Test against India due to pelvic inflammation

South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test against India that will played in Cape Town. The game will be from between January 3 to 7. During the first Test this week, Coetzee experienced pelvic inflammation and it worsened during the game. For the unversed, pelvic inflammation in men may begin suddenly, as with a kidney stone or a pulled muscle, or it can come on gradually, as with prostatitis or a urinary tract infection (UTI).

Other possible causes include, but are not limited to, an inguinal hernia, prostatitis, a bladder infection, or digestive problems. Meanwhile, during India’s second innings, the right-arm pacer bowled only five overs. The Proteas Head Coach Conrad Shukri has opted to release Coetzee from the team as a precautionary measure.

After skipper Temba Bavuma, Coetzee has become the second player to be ruled out of the second Test. The former got injured during the game and didn’t come out to bat. Also, he didn’t field during the second innings. Dean Elgar, who will play his last series, will lead the team during the New Year’s Test. On the other hand, Gerald might be replaced by the likes of Lungi Ngidi or Wiaan Mulder.

South Africa Test squad: David Bedingham, Nandre Burger, Tony de Zorzi, Dean Elgar (c), Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Keegan Petersen, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs and Kyle Verreynne.
