‘Woh ab jaake world cup ki practice krega’ – Fans react as Kane Williamson leaves Gujarat camp after getting injured in first game against Chennai
The 16th season of the Indian T20 League started with a bang as defending champions Gujarat defeated Chennai in the first game of the season. Gujarat continue their dominance over four times champions and defeated their third time in a row. Meanwhile, this victory came at a very huge cost for Gujarat as star New Zealand batter Kane Williamson got injured in the game.
The Kiwi skipper injured his knee during the game and got ruled out of the tournament. He has now left the Gujarat camp and will go back to New Zealand to recover from his injury. Kiwi skipper is looking to get fit for the upcoming World Cup. Meanwhile, Gujarat released a video of Williamson leaving for New Zealand. In the video, Williamson expressed his grief for leaving so soon. “Sad to be leaving so soon. I will miss the camp for sure. See you soon,” Williamson said.

Williamson further said, “Just wanna wish the Gujarat team all the best for the remainder of the season. Wish I could have been there with you all but not to be. And I also want to thank the fans for all their love support and I look forward to a speedy recovery. Thank you.”
Notably, in the game against Chennai Williamson was fielding at Deep mid-wicket when he injured his knee. It was Ruturaj Gaikwad’s shot which eventually went for a four although while trying to grab the ball Williamson awkwardly injured his knee which left him in pain.
Gujarat set to face Delhi on Tuesday
The defending Champions, under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, are set to face David Warner’s Delhi in the Arun Jaitley stadium on April 4. The team will look to continue its dominance and get a more stable start in the season. On the other hand, Delhi will look to win their first game of the season at the home ground. In their last game, Delhi was brutally thrashed by Lucknow in the iconic Ekkana stadium and the team will be looking for a bounce back.
Meanwhile, fans react to Gujarat’s video of Kane Williamson leaving the team. A Twitter user said, “Will miss you Kane Mama.”
