‘Yaar ab to West Indies pe taras aa raha hai’ – Fans react as centuries by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma put India in dominant position on Day 2 of Dominica Test
India have put themselves in a commendable position to win the first Test match against West Indies at Windsor Park in Dominica. The visitors had a dominant outing on Day 2 after bowling the Windies out for 150 runs on Day 1. The main highlight of the Indian innings was the century by Yashasvi Jaiswal in his debut Test match.
After starting the day with 80 without loss, skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal took the innings further and went on to put up a mammoth 229-run partnership for the first wicket in 75.4 overs. Jaiswal was the first batter to reach his century. The 21-year-old reached his triple-figure mark on the first ball of the 70th over after which he removed his helmet in delight.
A few overs later, Rohit also completed his hundred and assured that India get a big lead in the first innings. He got out after scoring 103 runs off 221 balls hitting 10 fours and two sixes. After that, Shubman Gill couldn’t spend much time on the crease batting at number three as he got out after scoring just 6 runs. After his wicket, Jaiswal and Virat Kohli took charge of the innings and put up an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket.
Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal to continue on Day 3
Kohli is unbeaten on 36 runs off 96 balls with one boundary, while Jaiswal would be aiming for his double hundred on Day 3 as he is still at the crease with 143 runs off 350 balls, having hit 14 boundaries. For West Indies, Jomel Warrican and Alick Athanaze were the only wicket-takers on Day 2.
Talking about the West Indies, the hosts had a poor outing with the bat as they were bowled out for just 150 runs on Day 1. Athanaze was the top scorer with 47 runs off 99 balls with six fours and a maximum. For India, Ravichandran Ashwin took a fifer as he scalped 5 wickets by conceding 60 runs in 24.3 overs, along with his spin partner Ravindra Jadeja who picked 3 wickets.
Here is how fans reacted

I saw some brilliant signs ahead, talking about Kohli
He’s played the ball late, the cut, back foot punch, guide unlike the last few months where he was only front foot committed, but this inns he was also playing more back foot shots, not totally front foot committed— Aadvaith Naarayanan (@AadvaithN) July 13, 2023
i understand kohli was dry of runs so he need runs to stamp his place in test team but i don't understand why rohit &jaiswal Digg like dt even after had good start, just 2.00 run rate in first, third sessions &only two fours in final session uff ,oh my test cricket 🥱😭

I knew people wont agree but it is yashashvi jaiswal who is the real culprit for this extremely slow pace batting.
He played whole day and haven't scored more than 100
