IPL 2024
‘Ye innings ke basis pe Indian team ki selection pakki’ – Fans react to Harsha Bhogle’s comment on Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), led the run-chase against the Gujarat Titans (GT), the reigning champions, in a spectacular display in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Samson scored a brilliant 60 off 32 while Shimron Hetmyer led them to victory with an unbeaten 56 off 26 in the 178-run chase. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 standings are being topped by the team from Rajasthan, and social media was awash with discussion on Samson’s worldwide standing. Even well-known cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle tweeted a direct warning to the national selectors.
One of the best batters in white-ball cricket is still Samson. Despite being on and off amongst the Indian team, many think that the wicket-keeper batter might become one of the best players in Indian cricket with a sustained performance in the T20I squad. In this IPL, Samson has not only dazzled with his bat but additionally with his leadership. The Kerala-born batsman, who led Rajasthan right way through to the final game last year, is displaying a similar kind of faith in his team this time.
After that quality knock, Sanju Samson spoke to the media in the post-match presentation and spoke about the quality of the game they just witnessed. He said “When you play quality opponents on a quality wicket, you get such games. Very happy to compete in such a game and come out on top. It was important to rotate our bowlers, they were playing some quality cricket and we had to respect that. The whole team came up well today and we could restrict them to around 170. The start we had, it shows how good a wicket this was. The new ball the quality of swing bowling was good and we had to respect that.”
The Rajasthan skipper then spoke about his match-winners in yesterday’s game. He said, “But today Zampa coming was a way to match up with the opponents. He was the match-up for Miller and almost got the wicket, but the catch was dropped. (On Hetmyer) He doesn’t like easy situations, we like putting him in such situations because he usually wins us games from such situations.”
Fans react to Harsha Bhogle’s statement on Sanju Samson: –
I would play Sanju Samson in the Indian T20 team every day.

In ODIs team too, as India needs a middle order batsmen & regular keeper, not KL Rahul a makeshift and always under pressure and under performing in Crucial matches.

Why he was not given a long run was because he as a youngster had set his bar really high expectations were higher, if his talent comparison was done with let's say batters like a Hooda or Ishan he would have played all games

But India doesn't play every day.

He’s good only if he bats in the top 4. And currently with Rohit, KL, Kohli, SKy taking up those slots he has to wait. Ideally we should play only 1 out of Rohit, Kohli, KL. So that deserving t20 batters like Sanju, Ruturaj, Gill can be part of the playing XI

Two players who should be taken into serious consideration for T20Is & completely backed with all heart are Sanju Samson & Ravi Bishnoi. I still find it hard to believe that BCCI knowing about their talent, they still keep overlooking at both of them. It's their loss I would say.

He has been given adequate chances to prove himself as worthy for Indian cricket team. Inevitably, he is a classical prodigy but international stats are still not in his favour.
Also, the problem is with the batting number in which he will be fit in team India.
