‘Ye Shakib hai kya’ – Babar Azam and Hassan Ali indulge in a funny moment on pitch during Pakistan Super League

In Game 12 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United defeated Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi. In the PSL match between Zalmi and United on Thursday, at the National Stadium in Karachi, bowler Hassan Ali and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam got into a hilarious situation.

The toss was won by Islamabad United, who chose to field. Peshawar scored 156/8 in 20 overs while batting first, with Babar Azam leading the way with 75 not out. In response, Islamabad surpassed the target in 14.5 overs, with scores of 62 off 31 balls from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and 42 off 29 balls from Rassie van der Dussen.

It happened as Ali was bowling the final delivery of the 14th over to Babar. Ali slipped on the field after delivering the ball, and Babar hit the ball for a single toward mid-on. When the batter noticed Hasan was blocking his path, he hilariously raised his bat and threatened to strike him before the pacer chuckled and walked out of the way.

Babar’s heroic unbeaten fifty helped his team reach a respectable total, and Hasan’s three-wicket haul earned him the game’s Man of the Match award. Zalmi made 156 for 8 in the allocated 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Before the latter’s departure, Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam added 76 runs for the first wicket in just 7 overs, giving the team a strong start.

Following Haris’ dismissal, the run rate dropped and Zalmi consistently lost wickets. They were reeling at 99 for 5 at one point, but Babar helped them pass the 150-run threshold. Nonetheless, the score was unable to clinch the victory.

Babar Azam was traded by Karachi Kings to Peshawar Zalmi prior to the PSL 2023 season. The Pakistan all-format skipper played for four years with the Karachi franchise in the league. Also, there were rumours that Babar and Imad’s relationship was unhealthy.
