‘Yeh 17 August kyun nahin aa rahi’ – Fans react to reports about Indian Cricket Board likely to announce Asia Cup squad on August 17

Sri Lanka and Pakistan are all set to host the Asia Cup, commencing on August 30. Notably, the Pakistan team has announced the roster for the Continental Cup, whereas Indian fans are very eager to know the Rohit Sharma-led side. In addition, sources suggest that India’s management is waiting for great batters Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul’s injury updates before releasing their line-up for the upcoming Asia Cup.

“The selectors and the team management want to give both Rahul and Shreyas a full chance of recovery. Rahul is certainly way ahead in terms of recovery and getting closer to full match fitness,” an Indian Cricket Board source told PTI.

“But he needs to do match simulation where he is able to keep wickets for 50 overs,” added the source.

“The Instagram videos show that he is doing well but 50 overs of keeping and at least 30 overs of batting in the heat will prove how his operated thigh is holding up in humid conditions,” the source informed further.

Notably, the Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have returned to the squad, as both will be appearing in the upcoming three T20I matches against Ireland, commencing on August 18. Moreover, the selectors are waiting for KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer’s injury updates. Furthermore, it’s undeniable that if these two batters return to the line-up, it will boost the Men in Blue ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
