Yuvraj Singh denies media reports about contesting elections

Former India cricketer, Yuvraj Singh has denied the media reports that speculated him of contesting the General Elections from Gurdaspur. In the next couple of months, India will witness people giving their mandate for who will govern the country from 2024 to 2029. Meanwhile, in recent times, he was speculated to be contesting the 2024 election from Gurdaspur. However, the two-time World Cup winner took to Twitter and said that he isn’t contesting the elections.

“Contrary to media reports, I’m not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation
@YOUWECAN. Let’s continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities,” Yuvraj Singh wrote in a post on X.

On the other hand, Singh’s last team in his IPL team, Mumbai Indians has decided to replace Rohit Sharma as captain with Hardik Pandya. The decision has gathered a lot of heat for the former IPL winners. Meanwhile, Singh, who played his last IPL in 2019 with the Blue Brigade, has said that it get tough as a player gets old.

“In franchise cricket, it always gets tough as you get old. Every franchise is always looking to promote a young player on whom they have spent a lot, and that is only fair. I have faced this situation too. But then, there can’t be a replacement for experience. Rohit has huge experience and has delivered. But a franchise has to think long term,” Yuvraj told the Times of India.
