Yuzvendra Chahal opens up about his future in Red ball cricket

Yuzvendra Chahal has stated that he would like to get back to Test cricket following another memorable IPL season for him. Test cricket is regarded as the final test for any cricketer because of the rigours of the format, which are unlike those of any other match in the sport. In Indian cricket, Chahal became a staple, especially in the shorter versions of the game. The leggie is presently the top wicket-taker in the IPL with 187 dismissals from 145 games and has 212 wickets across 147 matches played in Indian colours.

Chahal is yet to play for India in red-ball cricket, despite having had outstanding results in white-ball cricket, although the leg-spinner is quite open about wanting to realise his “dream” of taking part in Test matches. India can give a chance to Chahal if they have an injury or have to manage the workload of spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have fared well in white-ball cricket and it might be time to make their mark in the red-ball format.

I try to give my best in domestic and Ranji games so as to fulfil this dream of mine: Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal spoke about his dream and what it means to him. He said, “Every cricketer has a dream of representing his/her team on the international platform. And they reach the pinnacle when they wear whites and play red-ball cricket. I have a similar dream too.”

The Rajasthan Royals spinner spoke about how he has been preparing to make it to the Indian Test team and hopes to achieve it sooner rather than later. He said, “I have achieved a lot in white-ball cricket, but red-ball is still on my checklist. I still have the dream of getting the tag of ‘Test cricketer’ next to my name. I try to give my best in domestic and Ranji games so as to fulfil this dream of mine, and I hope to get the opportunity of representing the Indian Test team soon.
