‘Kulcha dekhna tha yar wapis se’ – Fans react as Yuzvendra Chahal opens up on 2023 ODI World Cup snub

Rohit Sharma and Co. are gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will commence on October 5 in host country India. Notably, the final 15-member squad was announced on September 28, which marked the surprise inclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin over Axar Patel, whereas in-form cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal was not able to get his spot in the ODI World Cup 2023. The leg spinner also missed the Asia Cup 2023 as well as the bilateral series against Australia.

However, Yuzvendra Chahal has opened up about his snub from the squad in his recent interview. The 33-year-old cricketer understands that the squad only needed 15 members over 17 and 18. In addition, the great spinner says that he has been neglected for the last three ODI World Cups and has developed the habit of moving on from such situations.

“I understand that only fifteen players can be a part, because it’s a World Cup, where you can’t take 17 or 18. I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I’m used to it now… it’s been three World Cups,” Yuzvendra Chahal said on Wisden.com.

The main goal is that India should win the ODI World Cup: Yuzvendra Chahal

The RR bowler wishes that Team India wins the ODI World Cup 2023, as it is not an individual game but a team game, which will require every effort to make sure India wins this as the host after 2011. Yuzvendra Chahal has taken his omission as a challenge, as he highlighted that it will help him work harder to get a place in the squad, especially in the next tournaments.

“The main goal is that India should win, because this is not an individual game. If I am part of the team or not, they are like my brothers. Obviously, I support India [team]. I like the challenge: it tells me I need to work hard so that I come back,” he added further.
