‘Zero care for dramebaaz’ – Fans react as Pakistan PM appoints committee to take final call on their participation in ODI World Cup 2023

According to reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appointed committee is all set to make the final decision regarding their participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup. Notably, Pakistan Foreign Affairs Minister Bilawal Bhutto will be making the final call over the team’s involvement in the mega tournament, which is scheduled to take place in October and November this year.

Moreover, it seems that the Babar Azam-led side will likely be going to India for the World Cup, which begins on October 5, however, the fact is that there are no clear indications regarding whether the government is going to allow the team’s travel to their neighboring country.

Meanwhile, a number of people from Pakistan requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hit back by refusing to send the national team to India for the upcoming World Cup shortly after the Indian Cricket Board denied travel to Pakistan for the forthcoming Asia Cup.

Notably, the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue will be playing all their matches in Sri Lanka after both nations accepted the hybrid model for the continental tournament. Meanwhile, there is no verdict concerning the Champions Trophy 2025 from the Indian Cricket Board, however, it clearly seems that the side won’t be travelling to Pakistan for that either.

A high-profile meeting will decide on the World Cup participation: PCB

“A high-profile meeting will decide on the World Cup participation,” a top PCB official told Cricbuzz on Tuesday evening without divulging the details. Furthermore, the committee includes former diplomat Tariq Fatmi, Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin ul Haq, Qamar Zaman Kaira, and Sports Minister Ahsan Mazari.

Furthermore, Pakistan had previously sought permission from the Indian Cricket Board and the Apex Board for a change in the venue of the matches against Australia and Afghanistan in India; however, they had been rejected. Notably, if they travel to India, the Men in Green will open their campaign against World Cup Qualifiers Netherlands and Sri Lanka before facing Rohit Sharma-led India. Meanwhile, there is a change in the date for the match featuring the archrivals. Notably, they will be locking horns on October 14 at Ahmedabad.
