‘Bs yahi confidence chahiye zindagi me’ – Twitter reacts to Mohammed Shami’s ‘tomorrow we will win the match’ comment after Day 4 of WTC final
India has been struggling in the ongoing WTC final match against Australia. There are no ways to say this but the Rohit Sharma-led side have been subpar in the 4 days of the match so far. Australia posted a huge 469 in the first inning and held India at just 296.
The Pat Cummins-led side then made 270/8 in the second inning declared after taking a huge 443-run lead. India which has been struggling with pace and bounce after playing 2 months of the Indian Premier League showed a bit of character in their second inning but the preparation difference between the two sides was once again apparent.
Shubman Gill, the hero of the recently concluded IPL failed yet again in the second inning as he was able to make just 18 runs. Rohit Sharma (43) and Cheteshwar Pujara fought hard against the Aussie pace attack but both were done by some quality balls from the bowlers from down under.
Rohit Sharma was undone by Nathan Lyon and soon Pat Cummins removed Pujara from the crease. With the top 3 out of the match, it was on Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane, India’s hero from the first inning to save the game.
Both Kohli (44*) and Rahane (20*) have so far thwarted all Australian challenges and remain at the crease at the end of day 4. The game however is still far away from India’s reach. As the pitch deteriorates, it would be very difficult to bat on the 5th day. With 280 runs and 97 overs of the game still to be had, it is significantly difficult for India to win this game.
Confidence however is something that the Indian team has in abundance. After the 3rd day of the game, Shardul Thakur claimed that India could chase down a target of 450+ and they are quite confident on their chances.
After the end of 4th day now, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has shown the same confidence in India’s batting unit. During the press conference, when asked about India’s chances in the game, Shami said, “100% everyone believes in the team that tomorrow we will win the match.” Soon social media was buzzing seeing Shami’s and Indian team’s confidence.

We thought India would bounce back in the 2nd innings of WTC Final 2021, but India couldn't. So this time we won't expect, we will just pray.
