‘He appears promising, displays…..’ – Former India bowler’s strong take on Tilak Varma’s inclusion in ODI World Cup squad

Team India won the third T20I match against West Indies on August 8 owing to the stellar performance of star batter Tilak Varma. He remained unbeaten after scoring 49 runs from 37 balls featuring four boundaries and a six. His knock enabled the Hardik Pandya-led side to win the match against the hosts in a must-win encounter.

In addition, a plethora of cricket pundits are praising the Mumbai Indians’ batter for his wonderful stint in the ongoing series against the West Indies. Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Pragyan Ojha feels the 20-year-old batter should be included in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

In addition, the former bowler affirms that Tilak Varma should get into the squad at number 4 to solve the middle order issue for the Rohit Sharma-led side during the mega tournament that is slated to take place in October and November this year. Moreover, the cricket analyst says that the young batter seems promising and displays strong composure.

“Is there a possibility of expediting #TilakVarma’s inclusion to help settle the number 4 debate for #TeamIndia in ODIs? He appears promising, displays strong composure, and adds the advantage of being a left handed batter,” Pragyan Ojha posted on Twitter.

Meanwhile, team India is all set to lock horns against West Indies in the USA for the fourth and fifth T20I that are slated to take place on August 11 and 12. In addition, the Men in Blue will be looking to win the series despite losing the first two matches.

Notably, the Hyderabad-born batter will be looking to score well to help his side clinch the series against the Rovman Powell-led side. Following the same, the left-handed batter will be seen in action in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah, commencing on August 18 in Dublin. Notably, the star pacer will be making his long-awaited comeback after being sidelined since September, 2022.
