‘You will be missed bhai’ – Fans react as Shikhar Dhawan opens up about Asian Games snub

Team India is all set to take part in the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, which are slated to take place in September and October. Notably, India’s star batter, Shikhar Dhawan, was expected to lead the side, but later the management opted to go with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, India star opener Shikhar Dhawan felt quite shocked when he wasn’t named for the Asia Games. Moreover, the 37-year-old cricketer affirms that the player has to accept it no matter what the situation is. Furthermore, the stylish left-handed batter expressed happiness for Ruturaj Gaikwad, who got the opportunity to lead the young side for the very first time for the Men in Blue.

“When my name was not there (for Asian Games), I was a bit shocked. But, then, I was like they have a different thought process, you just have to accept it. Happy that Rutu (Gaikwad) will lead the side. All the young boys are there, I am sure they will do well,” Dhawan told PTI on Thursday.

There is always a chance whether it is one per cent or 20 per cent: Shikhar Dhawan

In addition, the Punjab Kings skipper went on to say that he is ready to make his comeback for India, and this is the reason he has kept his body fully fit. Moreover, the Delhi-born batter feels that there is still a chance of his return for Rohit Sharma’s side. Furthermore, the dashing batter also added that he will be preparing for the next IPL with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well as Vijay Hazare.

“I will be ready, of course (for the comeback). That is why I keep myself fit (so whenever I get a chance I am ready). There is always a chance whether it is one percent or 20 percent. I have not spoken to any selector (about my future). Also, I have to prepare for the IPL. I will be playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali and, hopefully, the Vijay Hazare as well,” he added further.
