‘Kon rok raha hai fir’ – Fans react as Shubman Gill reveals Rohit Sharma likes batters to express and play the way they want to
With just two months left for the Men’s ODI World Cup, the Men in Blue are gearing up to win the title on their home soil. Notably, Team India will start their campaign against Pat Cummins’ side on August 8 in Chennai. Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, India star opener Shubman Gill has talked about his opening partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma.
Notably, the star batter feels great opening with the skipper. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter reveals that Rohit Sharma allows him to express himself freely and gives the players the freedom to play the shots to express their game.
“It feels great to be able to open up with him, especially knowing that all the focus is on him. He’s someone who likes the other batters to go and just express himself and play the way I want to play the game. So in that nature, he gives the players full freedom for how they want to express their game,” Shubman Gill said.
Moreover, the 23-year-old batter also talked about how great their opening combination is. In addition, the Punjab-born batter says that they both hit areas differently as the Indian skipper approaches to hit sixes during the powerplays, while the young batter looks for gaps and smashes the boundaries.
Rohit Sharma’s targeted areas are a bit different to mine: Shubman Gill
“I think because his (Rohit’s) targeted areas are a bit different (to mine). He loves to go aerial in the Powerplay. And I’m someone who likes to find the gaps and keep getting those boundaries, and he’s someone who likes to hit sixes. So I think that combination works well,” he added further.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans opener will be next seen in action during the Asia Cup, which is all set to commence on August 30. Notably, the Rohit Sharma side will be opening their campaign against the Babar Azam side on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
