‘Ekdum Sachi bat boli hai’ – Fans react as Virender Sehwag predicts Rohit Sharma to be highest run-scorer in ODI World Cup 2023

The Men in Blue are gearing up to participate in the ODI World Cup, which is all set to commence on October 5 in India. Notably, Team India last won the World Cup in 2011 after defeating Sri Lanka on their home soil under the captaincy of legendary cricketer MS Dhoni. Moreover, as the World Cup looms around the corner, a plethora of cricket pundits have started making their predictions for the leading run scorer in the major tournament. Notably, former India cricketer turned analyst Virender Sehwag is one of them.

The former India opener feels India has good wickets, owing to which openers can be the leading run scorers. Notably, the cricket commentator has picked India’s skipper Rohit Sharma as one of the highest run scorers in the ODI World Cup. The 2011 World Cup-winning member also clarified that he had named India’s batter as being an Indian.

“India has got good wickets, so I think openers will get good opportunities. If I want to pick one, I think Rohit Sharma. There are a couple of names, but I am Indian and I should pick an Indian, so Rohit Sharma,” Virender Sehwag said.

Moreover, the former right-handed batter says that India’s opening batter Rohit Sharma’s energy level and performances go up in the World Cup. Sehwag feels this time the 36-year-old skipper will rack up the most number of runs to guide India towards victory on their home soil.

“When the World Cup comes, his energy level, his performance goes up. So, I am sure [he will do well]. And this time, he’s the captain also. I am sure that he will make a difference and will score lots of runs,” he added further.
