‘Kuch to jeetne bhi do yr unko’ – Fans react as Australia beat India by 66 runs in 3rd ODI

The Australia team won the last and third ODI by 66 runs against India at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on September 27. Notably, Pat Cummins side lost the last three matches out of five in the ODI series against South Africa. In addition, they also lost the first and second ODI against the Men in Blue at Mohali and Indore. Speaking about the final match, Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and invited the hosts to field first.

Notably, after being opted to bat first, the Australian team had a terrific start as star openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored 56 and 96 runs, respectively. Following their dismissal, star batter Steve Smith took the onus, smashed a half-century, and achieved a great milestone during the play. Notably, the right-handed batter becomes the fourth Australian player to complete 5,000 runs for their side in 50 overs of the format.

After the dismissal of Smith, great middle-order batter Marnus Labuschagne struck 72 runs from 58 balls, featuring nine boundaries, with a solid strike rate of 124, which helped his side post a massive total of 352/7 in the given 50 overs. Speaking about India’s innings, the Men in Blue had a wonderful start as skipper Rohit Sharma once again showed his class against the Australian bowling attack. The opening batter hammered 81 runs from just 57 balls, hitting five boundaries and six sixes with a solid strike rate of 142.

Team India won the series 2-1 against Australia

Interestingly, the top-order batter opened India’s campaign alongside all-rounder Washington Sundar, who comes in the final ODI over off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Sundar hammered just 18 runs and was cheaply sent back to Pavilion by Glenn Maxwell. Notably, behind him, Virat Kohli yet again hammered a half century as he put up 56 runs along with Shreyas Iyer, who also scored 48 runs off 43 balls.

In addition, KL Rahul also departed for just 26 runs, and following his dismissal, Team India couldn’t continue the winning momentum and was bundled out at 286 runs. However, despite the loss in the final ODI, Rohit Sharma and Co. won the series by 2-1 against a strong visiting side and maintained the number one spot in all three formats of the game.
