‘Warm up match hi thanda ho gaya’ – Fans react as Team India’s both ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up matches get called off

The ODI World Cup 2023 warm-up game between India and the Netherlands was called off as once again rain halted the play at the Greenfield International Cricket Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Notably, Team India was the only one out of 10 teams that hadn’t played a single ball game during the warm-up clash ahead of the marquee event set to take place on October 5.

Rohit Sharma and Co. lost an opportunity to test their bowlers against the compelling English batters on September 30 in Guwahati as the rain played spoilsport after the toss. Notably, the same incident was followed in their second warm-up game as well. The Men in Blue will be facing Australia on October 8 to commence their ODI World Cup 2023 journey without any warm-up fixtures.

Team India missed the great opportunity to test their players against defending champions England as well as to see how big they could register the win against the Netherlands. Meanwhile, despite the incident, Team India is emerging as the red-hot favourites to win the marquee event owing to its stupendous squad and in-form cricketers.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Co. have won the Asia Cup 2023. Team India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets and performed well against Pakistan in the group stages. However, the game was abandoned owing to continuous rainfall. Following the win in group stages, Team India continued their solid form and registered a historic win against Babar Azam & Co., as well as defending their narrow target against Sri Lanka, which places them in the final.

However, the Men in Blue suffered a narrow loss against Bangladesh in the last match of the Asia Cup 2023. Mohammed Siraj’s lethal pace attack guided India to win the Continental Cup in 2023. Following the victory, Team India resisted a big win against strong visiting side Australia in the first two ODIs, which take place in Mohali and Indore, which places them at the top spot in all three formats of cricket.
