WATCH: Pat Cummins gives ‘gleeful’ reply when asked about England’s back-to-back loss in ODI World Cup 2023
The five-time world champions Australia are all set to lock horns against New Zealand on October 28 for their sixth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala. Notably, the Black Caps are currently in third place with four wins and one loss in the tournament. On the other hand, Pat Cummins and Co. are in the number four spot with three wins and two losses in the marquee event.
However, Australia’s skipper, Pat Cummins, was recently seen addressing the pre-match conference ahead of their clash against the strong Kiwis. The right-arm pacer was asked about England’s performances in the ODI World Cup 2023, to which he replied that it was sad to see them like this. Notably, both sides last faced each other during Ashes 2023, where the series was levelled up by 2-2.
Question – Pat you would’ve been heartbroken seeing England’s defeat last night.
Pat Cummins – yeah, it’s very sad to see.
That’s a standard we want to keep going with for the rest of tournament: Pat Cummins
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old was also further asked about their plans ahead of their clash against the strong Kiwis. The fast bowler says that they will be playing their aggressive games with batting and bowling, as they did in their last three games. Moreover, the great seamer reveals that they are very obsessed with their bowling and trying out new things to win the games.
“Our group’s big on talking about the style that we want to play, and I think in the first two games not only did we not win, but I think we didn’t really nail the style that we wanted to play,” Pat Cummins told reporters in the press conference.
“I think in the last few games, you’ve seen us be a bit more aggressive – batting and bowling. Bowling – everyone’s been really open-minded, tried different things; trying bounces, different fields, one over spells, and it’s just been a real buy-in from the whole team, and yeah, it’s been fantastic last few games. That’s a standard we want to keep going with for the rest of tournament,” he added further.
