Apex Cricket Body name on-field umpires for ODI World Cup 2023 Final between India vs Australia
The ODI World Cup 2023 final is just a day away and the fans cannot wait for the game to begin. The Apex Cricket Body has announced the names of the two on-field umpires as well as the third umpire and the match referee for big the clash on Sunday.
All eyes will be focused on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Australia and India will compete for the coveted ODI World Cup 2023 title. The Australians are gunning to win their 6th title while the Indian team is aiming to win their third World Cup.
The Indian Cricket Team has already reached Ahmedabad and has already begun its practice. Pat Cummins and his Australian side will soon begin their practice after they finished their 2nd Semi-Final game on Thursday versus South Africa in Kolkata.
Apex Cricket Body names the match officials for the ODI World Cup finals
Cricket’s Apex Body on Friday announced the match officials for the ODI World Cup 2023 Final game of the tournament. English duo Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth will be the on-field umpires. West Indian official Joel Wilson will man the third umpire duties while Zimbabwean Andy Pyrcoft will be the match referee for the game.
There is a lot of excitement in Ahmedabad for the big match on Sunday. As per reports many former cricket captains will be part of the pre-match ceremony. English popstar Dua Lipa is also expected to perform during the event.
A host of Bollywood celebrities are also expected to be part of the biggest match of India’s cricket history. One big name who is set to receive a thunderous welcome is MS Dhoni the former Indian skipper. It was under Dhoni that India won the title in 2011 beating Sri Lanka in the final.
Honourable Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is also expected to be part of the final game. As per reports, the Indian Prime Minister is set to be the guest of honour for the huge game on Sunday.
The last time India and Australia met in an ODI World Cup final was in 2003 played in Johannesburg. Ricky Ponting scored 140 runs and Damien Martyn scored 88 to help Australia score 359 from their 50 overs. The Indian team was bowled out for 234 with Virender Sehwag top-scoring with 83 runs.
