‘Completely bad taste…’ -Former India spinner slams Indian fans for trolling Australia cricketers & their families after ODI World Cup 2023 loss

Team India lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia by six wickets despite performing extremely well in the league stage before thrashing New Zealand in the semi-final of the game. However, a plethora of Indian fans are spreading hate on social media and trolling Australian players and their families as they defeated the Men in Blue in front of their packed crowd on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh took to social media and slammed the Indian fans, who were constantly trolling Australian fans and their families. A well-known cricket commentator called this act bad taste for both countries.

In addition, the former India spinner clarified that Australia played better cricket as compared to the hosts, so one should not troll them and their families after the loss. The 2011 ODI World Cup-winning star requested and urged the fans to stop this nasty and creepy behaviour, and he encouraged fans to maintain dignity after the loss.

Requesting all cricket fans to stop such behaviour: Harbhajan Singh

“Reports of trolling of family members of Australian cricket players is completely in bad taste. We played well but lost the final to better cricket by the Aussies. That’s it. Why troll the players and their families? Requesting all cricket fans to stop such behaviour. Sanity and dignity are more important,”  Harbhajan Singh wrote on X.

However, just a day ago, Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s wife, Vini Raman, also took to social media and lashed out at Indian fans who were constantly criticizing her for supporting Australia despite being born into an Indian family.

“Cue all the hateful vile DMs. Stay classy. Can’t believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian and also support the country of your birth where you have been raised and more importantly the team your husband + father play in #nobrainer. Take a chill pill and direct the outrage towards more important world issues,” Vini Raman wrote on X.
