‘He played so beautifully, technically correct..’ – Dale Steyn heaps praise on South Africa batter after their thrilling win over India in 2nd T20I

The South African team beat Team India on December 12 in the second T20I. Notably, the Men in Blue were able to post 180 runs in 19.3 overs before rain halted the play. However, during the chase, Proteas chased down the total with seven balls to spare and took a 1-0 lead in the T20I series, and they will be looking to dominate visitors in the next clash to win the series over levelling up.

However, after the classic win, former South African cricketer Dale Steyn heaped praise on Proteas opening batter Reeza Hendricks, who did most of the damage in the powerplays, which helped him win the game. The top-order batter smashed 49 runs from just 27 balls, featuring eight boundaries and a six with a magnificent strike rate of 182.

The legendary cricketer says that Reeza Hendricks played magnificently, which gave them the right start. Moreover, the former pacer has compared Reeza’s shots to those of former India skipper Virat Kohli, calling his knock superb.

Meanwhile, Dale Steyn feels the visiting side, India, were unlucky as Hendricks was too good for Proteas, which made India lose the series after the first game washed out. The 40-year-old cricketer feels Hendricks got the ball into his bat very nicely.

We talk about Virat Kohli having the classical beautiful drive, Reeza Hendricks is right up there in playing that shot: Dale Steyn

“He played so beautifully, technically correct but he also has an incredible power game and he is a wonderful timer of the ball. We talk about Virat Kohli having the classical beautiful drive, Reeza Hendricks is right up there in playing that shot. You saw tonight how well he played. He read the game well, took it on when it needed to be done. It was a superb knock,” Dale Steyn said on Star Sports.

“India were a little unlucky. They found the edge of his bat once or twice at the start. He rode his luck and batted really well at the end of the day,” he added further.
