‘Bizzare game of cricket’ – Fans react to Team India’s first-ever win at Cape Town, level series by 1-1

Team India won the second Test match against South Africa on Day 2 at Newlands Cricket Stadium in Cape Town. Notably, this match marked the end of South Africa’s tour, and the Men in Blue will be gearing up for the three matches of the T20I series to boost their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to take place in May and June in the USA and West Indies. Meanwhile, the visiting sides drew the T20I and Test series against South Africa. However, they won the ODI series by 2-1.

Speaking of the second Test game, it was South African stand-in skipper Dean Elgar, who won the toss and invited Team India to field first in the game. Notably, after being opted to bat first, they were all bundled out for just 55 runs as Mohammed Siraj went on to scalp six wickets, while Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar also picked up two wickets each to dismantle their batting line-up.

However, Team India had a great start while chasing in the first inning, but they were bundled out for just 153 runs in the first inning. Meanwhile, South Africa had a great start to the second innings owing to a brilliant tonne by Aiden Markram. However, except for him, no other batters could stand for long, which allowed them to just give 78 runs to India.

Yashasvi Jaiswal gave Team India a solid start with his 28 runs

Speaking about India’s second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a solid start with his 28 runs, while skipper Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten. In addition to that, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli also piled up 10 and 12 runs, respectively. However, Shreyas Iyer’s boundary helped them win the game by seven wickets. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj expressed his happiness by winning the Player of the Match award.

“It’s my best figure in Test career. I tried to be consistent and hit the right areas. I wasn’t consistent in the previous match and that’s why we leaked a lot of runs. Worked hard on consistency and tried to be relentless with my lengths. When we play together, he (Bumrah) gets the message earlier,” Mohammed Siraj said in the post-match presentation.
