Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a former Indian cricketer, posted a picture of his daughter Ziva wearing a signed Lionel Messi jersey to demonstrate their “same admiration” of Argentina’s World Cup-winning captain.
Messi, who helped his country win the World Cup for the first time in 36 years, was named player of the competition after scoring twice in the championship game in Qatar. Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw to win the World Cup, cementing the 35-year-status old’s as the sport’s all-time best player.
Ziva, the seven-year-old daughter of MS Dhoni, the two-time Cricket World Cup champion of India, was spotted sporting an Argentina jersey that Messi had personally autographed on his official Instagram account. Dhoni captioned his post ‘Like father, like daughter’, confirming their ‘common love’ for Messi. In 2014, MS Dhoni tweeted, “I love Messi,” which later emerged during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Lionel Messi returning back to Paris Saint-Germain
Messi sent Ziva a signed shirt with the message, “Para Ziva (For Ziva),” and the latter posted a picture on Instagram wearing the jersey. The post was captioned, “Like father, like daughter.”
Throughout his playing career, the former Indian cricket captain was frequently spotted playing football with teammates, making him a well-known football aficionado. Chennaiyin FC, a team in the Indian Super League, is co-owned by Dhoni. Messi will return to Paris Saint-Germain in the first week of January, it was previously announced. Messi, who is 35 years old, won’t play for PSG against Strasbourg at home on Wednesday or against Lens on Sunday.
“He (Messi) had to return to Argentina for the celebrations, the receptions and we decided that he was going to be off until the 1st of January,” PSG manager Christophe Galtier told reporters. “And so he will come and join us, either on the 2nd or the 3rd, to be able to resume competition with us, when he will have had between 13 and 14 days of recovery.”
