‘It’s going to be hard to replace Davey…..’ – Pat Cummins describes David Warner’s departure for Australia
Australia’s skipper, Pat Cummins, feels replacing David Warner is irreplaceable in Test cricket for Australia. Notably, David Warner played a great knock against Pakistan in the second innings of his farewell Test and guided his side to win the game by eight wickets on Saturday to help his side whitewash the series against the Men in Green.
However, Australia’s skipper, Pat Cummins, has opened up about his emotions for star batter Warner. The 30-year-old cricketer feels replacing the left-handed batter would be very difficult and hard for him owing to his massive experience in Test cricket. In addition, the right-arm pacer feels it will be hard for him to find Warner’s replacement in Test cricket.
“It’s going to be hard to replace Davey. He’s basically played every game for the last dozen years. His huge personality, he really sets the game up with the way he way he plays every time he walks out. He’s going to be huge to replace. We’ll enjoy for the next day or so while we still got him around. A week at home before we get down to Adelaide. A good time to reflect on this series but also the year that’s been and obviously on Davey’s career,” Pat Cummins said in a post-match presentation.
Exciting, entertaining and I hope I put a smile on everyone’s face with the way I played: David Warner
Meanwhile, David Warner has also reflected on his wonderful and magnificent Test career. The 37-year-old cricketer believes that people should take up cricket as a career after witnessing his successful career. Moreover, the southpaw has thanked everyone who helped him make his career at the epitome of the level.
“Exciting, entertaining and I hope I put a smile on everyone’s face with the way I played. Hopefully, the young kids out there can follow in my footsteps, white ball cricket to Test cricket, it’s the pinnacle of our sport. So keep working hard and play the red ball game which is entertaining as well. Thanks, everyone,” David Warner said.
