‘We need to praise Ravindra Jadeja….’ – Aakash Chopra makes bold claim for India’s all-rounder after his magnificent performance in 1st Test vs England

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra heaps praise on star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja owing to his great batting and bowling performance in the first innings of the first Test match against England, which commenced on January 25 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Notably, Ravindra Jadeja had snatched three wickets that restricted the English side to just 246; however, he is currently batting 84 and will be looking to help India get the big lead.

Former India opener Aakash Chopra feels that the cricket fraternity does not give much credit to the CSK star cricketer despite being at the top. The well-renowned cricket commentator says that the left-handed batter deserves praise for his stellar batting in the lower order, which makes him very unique in Test cricket.

“We need to praise Ravindra Jadeja. I think we do a disservice at times. We don’t give him that much importance. He is the No. 1 all-rounder in the world if we talk about the ICC rankings and he is 90 points ahead of the second-ranked guy. If he scores a century here, he took three wickets in the first innings and will pick up wickets in the second innings as well, his ranking points will increase further. So there is a huge gulf between No. 1 and No. 2,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel.

Ravindra Jadeja is the No. 1 all-rounder in Test cricket at the moment and with a massive distance: Aakash Chopra

Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra feels he does not understand why the world considers Ben Stokes to be the best all-rounder, despite not bowing in Test cricket so far. The cricketer-turned-analyst affirms that Ravindra Jadeja is the best all-rounder at the moment.

“However, world cricket says that he is good but No. 1 will be Ben Stokes only. I don’t remember the last time when Ben Stokes bowled in Test cricket but he is still considered the best all-rounder. Ravindra Jadeja is the No. 1 all-rounder in Test cricket at the moment and with a massive distance,” he added further.
