‘We’re playing and the brand of cricket….’ – England star pacer Ollie Robinson opens up on ‘Bazball’ strategy
England star cricketer Ollie Robinson has recently opened up about his Bazball strategy and how they aim to win Test matches these days. Notably, the Ben Stokes-led side has won the first Test match despite India having a great lead in the first innings. However, the hosts have bounced back magnificently to win the second Test game and levelled up the series by 1-1.
England star pacer Ollie Robinson says that they play irrespective of the results, which gives them much freedom in the game. In addition, the great seamer feels that they are playing the new brand of cricket, which helps them win matches.
“The message that keeps coming from Ben and Baz is that results are irrelevant to us – it’s the way that we play. The way that we’re playing and the brand of cricket that we play is how we want to be seen and perceived,” Ollie Robinson said in his column for the Wisden.
It’s really special for us to get together as a team and to leave our mark on the game of cricket: Ollie Robinson
Ollie Robinson said that they don’t aim to win the games, but they aim to display the dominating character for whom their side should be remembered. Moreover, the 30-year-old cricketer feels that people should not remember Ben Stokes-led England whether they lose or win the game, but they should know them for the brand of game they played
“So whether we chase it or not, we just want to entertain and show people that this is how we’re going to play cricket. We want to show teams around the world that this is how we’re going to play cricket. And this is how we’re going to keep Test cricket alive by playing this way. For us, it’s about the way we play. It’s really special for us to get together as a team and to leave our mark on the game of cricket. Whether we win or lose, people are going to remember us for the way we played and that’s what we’re all aiming for,” he added further.
