IND vs ENG 3rd Test, Day 4: ‘What a moment’ – Fans react as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill put IND on top to beat ENG by 434 runs

India vs England 3rd Test match ended as India won the match by 434 runs. With Ravindra Jadeja’s exceptional bowling in the second innings, the hosts not only won the match but also took the lead in the 5-match series, 2-1. As the English batters seem out of form, it will be difficult for them to bounce back from such a huge loss. Moreover, the Indian side is looking in solid form after losing the first match. The side has a balance and the players are ready to take up responsibilities.

With the help of Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma, India reached 445 runs in the first innings. Moreover, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel also played a helping knock by scoring 62 and 46 runs respectively. For England, it was Mark Wood who took four wickets. When England came into bat, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, started the match on a good note but could not carry the momentum forward. Even though Duckett went on to score 153 runs off 151 balls, he couldn’t help England and they were bowled out on 319 runs.

In the second innings, Indian batters played exceptionally well. Jaiswal, Gill and Sarfaraz Khan stole the show with their fire-packed innings. Jaiswal scored 214 runs while Gill scored 91. Sarafarz scored two consecutive half-centuries in this Test match. In the second innings, he scored 68 runs. England bowlers couldn’t manage to dismiss the batters and hence both the pacers were wicketless. Moreover, Hartley, Root and Ahmed got one wicket each. However, the visitors could only manage to score 122 runs and lost the match by a big margin.

‘Watch the ball and play the ball’ – Ravindra Jadeja after getting Player of the Match award

Even though Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 214 runs, Ravindra Jadeja was awarded the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance. Throughout the match, Jadeja scored 112 runs, took two wickets in the first innings and then again got a fifer in the second innings. Hence, he was the most deserving candidate for the award.

At the post-match presentation, Jadeja said, “I was just looking to build partnerships with Rohit, we were in a difficult situation, look to back my strengths, play my shots, not try and be more conscious. Watch the ball and play the ball. I know about this wicket, if we bat first, it is always good to bat on, in the second half it starts spinning, when Rohit won the toss, we were thinking: this is all that we wanted, bat first, bowl second.”
