‘That is why you are seeing so many runs against his name..’ – Former India cricketer heaps praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal after his double ton in Rajkot Test
Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel heaps praise on star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal after his magnificent double century in the third Test match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Notably, the left-handed batter made an unbeaten 214 runs from 236 balls, featuring 14 fours and 12 sixes, to help his side post the massive total against England in the Rajkot Test.
However, Parthiv Patel feels that the opening player is a complete batter who made sure his side got off to a great start. The 38-year-old cricketer talks about how Yashasvi Jaiswal was facing the problem against James Anderson and now how he faced him in the third Test game. In addition, the former wicketkeeper batter also talks about a few shots played by the 22-year-old cricketer against the world-class spinners.
“In Yashasvi Jaiswal, we saw everything you want to see in a complete batter and that is why you are seeing so many runs against his name. A lot of questions were asked. He faced some difficult spells from Jimmy Anderson in the last Test match but he played that also extremely well. In between all that, he showed his range against the spinners. We got to see the big shots, the sweep, and the cover drives against the spin. There is no doubt that this series has been very good for him,” Parthiv Patel said during a discussion on Colors Cineplex.
How you can score runs as quickly as possible, and Yashasvi Jaiswal did that only: Parthiv Patel
Parthiv Patel feels that the RR batter understands the situation well and is not concerned about finishing the double century. Moreover, the former left-handed batter feels that Yashasvi Jaiswal was aiming to score maximum runs so that India could declare their innings rather than focusing on his double century.
“The most important thing was what the team needed at that stage. The team needed you to score quickly because if you do that, you get more overs to get England all out. So there you aren’t thinking about your 200 but how you can score runs as quickly as possible, and Yashasvi Jaiswal did that only.
