I’ve not decided to give up the format: Rohit Sharma
For the unversed, the Indian captain and veteran Virat Kohli were rested for the T20I series against the Lankan Lions, sparking rumours that the board and the selectors have moved on from the two. Opening up on the same, the right-handed batter said that he has not given up on the shortest format of the game, hinting at a possible comeback post the conclusion of the Indian T20 League.
“We have only six T20Is, three are over. So we’ll manage, you know to look after those boys till the Indian T20 League. Then we’ll see what happens after the Indian T20 League. But certainly, I’ve not decided to give up the format,” Rohit was quoted as saying in the press conference.
“At the moment I think it was made clear in the past that it’s a 50-over World Cup year for us. And for some of the guys, it’s not possible to play all formats. If you look at the schedule, there were back-to-back matches, so we decided on just looking at some players’ workload that we wanted to make sure that they get enough break time and manage them. I definitely fall in that (category) as well,” said the Indian captain further.
Here’s how fans have reacted to the video that is now going viral on the internet:
