Watch: Jeffrey Vandarsay and Ashen Bandara collide with each other during 3rd ODI against India, stretchered off the field
As two players, Jeffrey Vandersay and Ashen Bandara attempted to block a boundary during the 43rd over of the Indian innings, an unfortunate incident occurred during the third and final ODI of the series between India and Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli of Team India hammered the delivery to the fine leg boundary, and Vandersay and Bandara collided violently as they fled from the opposing ends, injuring both of them.
The two needed medical attention for their wounds, which caused the play to be stopped for a while. Eventually, they had to be stretchered off the field. The Sri Lankan cricketers gathered the pair as they looked nervous. Virat Kohli also enquired of Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan captain, whether everything was well after Vandersay and Bandara were carried off the field.

India set a target of 391 runs for Sri Lanka
Earlier, Kohli scored his 46th century in ODIs, taking 85 deliveries to get there. Additionally, Shubman Gill reached his second century in the format before being bowled out for 116 off 97 deliveries.
At the Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat. The Indian batsman had scored 113 in the third and final ODI of the series against Bangladesh and hit the same score of 113 in the opening match of the Sri Lanka ODIs. Kohli’s century is his second in the series and third in the past four ODIs.
With 13 fours and 8 sixes, Kohli finished his innings at a magnificent undefeated 166. India had already defeated Sri Lanka in the series after winning by a score of 67 runs in Guwahati and then by a margin of four wickets in Kolkata at the famed Eden Gardens stadium.
India completed its innings with a score of 390 runs and five wickets lost. It is not impossible, but it will be very challenging for the Islanders to chase down a massive total of 391 runs if Sri Lanka are to escape a comprehensive defeat.
