Sanju Samson all set for selection again as he declares himself fit
India’s wicketkeeper Sanju Samson has said that he has regained his fitness and would soon return to play following a knee injury. Sanju Samson, who is now studying at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, shared the happy news with his followers on social media.
“All set and ready to go,” Samson posted on Instagram. Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan franchise, was not chosen for the Indian team for the current 3-match T20I series against New Zealand. Samson was ruled out of the T20I series against Sri Lanka due to a knee injury received earlier in the first T20Is.

Samson was replaced by Vidarbha cricketer Jitesh Sharma for the remaining games of the Sri Lanka series. Samson won’t play competitive cricket again until the IPL 2023 because Kerala failed to advance to the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The 28-year-next old’s Indian T20 League season will be with the Rajasthan franchise in 2023. Before joining the T20 league again, he may participate in a few local games.
Given that India already has two wicketkeepers in the team, Samson is unlikely to be selected for the final two T20Is against New Zealand. Ishan Kishan looked poised to preserve his spot while batting in the first T20I. Jitesh is still without a cap and might not participate in the series.
The series’ second Twenty20 international between India and New Zealand will be taking place on Sunday, January 29 in Lucknow. The team led by Mitchell Santner had won the first game of the three-match series against Hardik Pandya’s squad by successfully defending a 177-run target.
Samson played 10 ODI matches in 2022, hitting 284 runs at an average of 71 with two fifty-sevens. He made his ODI debut in 2021. Samson will be competing with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan, who recently produced a double century. for the wicketkeeper position in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is out of the team due to injuries.
