‘This is in Aussies head’ – Former Indian Cricketers Wasim Jaffer, Harbhajan Singh trigger mind games ahead of BGT 2023

Australia and India are set to lock horns in the upcoming four-match Test series starting from February 9th. Both teams are preparing for the iconic series as there’s a lot at stake for them. Rohit Sharma-led India will be looking to qualify for the finals of the Test Championship while Pat Cummins-led Australia will be looking to win a Test Series in India after 18 years.

However, former Indian cricketers Wasim Jaffer and Harbhajan Singh have commented on the special practice session of visitors. After refusing to play a practice match before the series, the Australian team is preparing for the Test assignment distinctively.

In a video shared by Cricket Australia, visitors can be seen practising with Maheesh Pithiya, an action duplicate of ace Indian Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Pithiya has been flown to Bengaluru by visitors to bowl as a net bowler.

Now former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer took a dig at Aussies for their special preparations. Jaffer said that before the start of the series, Ashwin is already troubling the visitors. Sharing the video of the practice session Jaffer said, “First Test is five days away and @ashwinravi99 is already inside Aus head.”

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh also commented on the same. Quoting Jaffer’s tweet Harbhajan shared a picture of a ‘dead’ pitch and said, “This the main thing they have in their head”. Notably, everyone is anticipating that hosts would offer a ‘dead-turner’ in the series to comfortably qualify for Test Championship.

Here is the tweet:

Australia practising on worn pitches to counter the spin threats

Australia has been training on worn-out fields ever since they arrived in India, which are likely to be used for the four-match Test series. Netizens were shocked by the Images of the practice pitch which went viral on social media.

However, former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Ian Healy had predicted that Australia would win the series if India provide a “fair pitch” with constant spin and without the ball “jumping excessively and slipping down low from day one.” Notably, India has defeated Australia in each of the last three Test series.
