The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently taking place in India and the hosts have shown why they are virtually invincible in home conditions. India have already retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after winning the first two Tests of the four-match Test series against Australia. 

Australia have already shown their weaknesses against spin and India is a side that loves to trouble the opposition batters with spin. With players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, who can trouble the batters with their line, length and accuracy, it was almost inevitable for the Aussie batters to survive against India in Nagpur and Delhi

Why is Cummins going back in the middle of the tour?

Pat Cummins, the Australian team Test captain is returning to Australia due to a serious health issue with one of his family members. It has been reported that he would be traveling back to his native country today and would be expected to meet the team back in Indore for the preparation of the third Test starting on March 1, 2023. If the Australian captain’s stay in Australia is extended, Steve Smith would be expected to lead the side for the third Test in Indore.

The Australian batters, who were frequently sweeping the turning ball, were quickly destroyed by the experienced Indian spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Ashwin finished with three wickets, while Jadeja concluded with his best figures of 7/42. On an enthralling day three morning, nine wickets were lost for 53 runs, and some previous players questioned the sweep stroke on a pitch where the ball kept low.

The Australian fans were hoping for a good comeback from their side in Indore in the third Test of the series starting on March 1,2023. The bowlers have been delivering the goods for them but it is the batting that is letting them down on most occasions. A great batting display is the need of the hour for the Australian team and they would be hoping to take a consolation win out of this series.

Making a fast bowler captain can restrict your team combination in India. This is the first time Aus team management might be thinking about that. They have to play three spinners. They can't play starc because of that. If they have to play starc than they have to drop Murphy.

I hope any one of Starc and Hazlewood are fit for 3rd and 4th test so that Cummins get a supporting role in pace also need Aston agar in their bowling line up.

It's a very simple decision. Starc is a better exponent of reverse swing. If he is in the side, he should captain. It's better to fly out.
