‘Aakash Jhopda ki pitaai, Aankh meri bhar aayi’ – Fans react to twitter feud between Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra

KL Rahul is not in the greatest of forms and his place in the side has been in question for a long time now. With an in-form Shubman Gill waiting on the bench for his chance, Rahul doesn’t have much time on his plate. His run in the ongoing four-match Test series against Australia also doesn’t help his case.

Rahul represented India in four Test matches in 2022, scoring 137 runs, overall, at an average of 17.12 and only one fifty. He scored 251 runs at an average of 27.88 in 10 ODIs last year, with two half-centuries and a top score of 73.

Talking about T20Is, he amassed 434 runs at an average of 28.93, including six half-centuries, with a top score of 62 in the year 2022. He scored 822 runs, overall, averaging 25.68, in 30 games last year, with nine half-centuries. These are very mediocre statistics considering a class player like KL Rahul.

How did the Twitter feud began between the former two Indian cricket players begin?

Venkatesh Prasad took to Twitter on Monday to express his disappointment. He said,

“There is a view that KL Rahul has an outstanding overseas Test record. But stats speak otherwise. He has a test avg of 30 overseas in 56 innings. He has scored 6 overseas centuries but followed it up with a string of low scores that’s why averaging 30. Let’s look at a few others.”

Aakash Chopra took Venkatesh’s opinion in a video on his YouTube channel which Prasad didn’t like at all and tweeted again. He tweeted,

“I have no agenda against any player, maybe there are others who have. Difference of opinion is fine but calling contrary views as apna personal agenda and Twitter par mat laayein is funny for @cricketaakash , considering he has made a great career by airing his views.”

This feud is still going on and many former cricket players like Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan Singh have come out and voiced their views on this matter. Famous anchor and commentator Harsha Bhogle joined in on this debate.
