‘Inko subha-subha Panvel nikalna hota hai’ – Fans in awe of Mumbai franchise’s mindboggling bowling performance in Women’s T20 League
In the seventh match of the inaugural Women’s T20 League, the Mumbai franchise locked horns against the Delhi team at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on Thursday, March 9. In this match, Mumbai emerged victorious. They defeat Delhi by 8 wickets and registered their third consecutive victory in this tournament.
In this tournament so far, no team is able to play their full 20 overs, as they have been bundled out by the Mumbai franchise bowlers on low scores. In the first match, Gujarat was able to score only 64 runs. In the second match, the Bangalore franchise got bowled out for 155 runs and in their last match they dismissed the Delhi side for a mere total of 105 runs.
For the Mumbai team, the pick of the bowlers Indian youngster Saika Ishaque with nine wickets, Healey Mathews with six wickets, Issy Wong and Ameila Kerr with four wickets. Star England pacer Nat Sciver-Brunt has grabbed three wickets in the tournament so far and star India all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has snapped two wickets.
Mumbai bowlers take their side to victory against Delhi
If we talk about the seventh match, Delhi skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting first, the Delhi-based franchise were able to score only 105 runs before getting all out on the last ball of the 18th over.
Lanning scored 43 runs off 41 balls with five boundaries while on the other hand Jemimah Rodrigues scored 25 runs off 18 balls with three boundaries. For the Mumbai side, three wicket each were taken by Ishaque, Wong and Matthews and one wicket was taken by Vastrakar.
While chasing such a small target of 106 runs, Mumbai openers Yashtika Bhatia and Mathews started off the inning very well and together built up a partnership of 65 runs in 53 balls. Bhatia played a brilliant innings of 41 runs from 32 balls while Matthews scored 32 runs off 31 balls with six boundaries.
After the dismisal of the openers, Sciver-Brunt’s unbeaten 23 runs off 19 balls and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 11 runs from 8 balls helped the side to a victory .
