Former Indian cricketer Sreesanth talks about the conversation he had with Sanju Samson

Beginning on March 31 in Ahmedabad, the 2023 Indian T20 League will feature a match between MS Dhoni’s Chennai and the reigning champions Gujarat. The Rajasthan team, who finished second in the previous season, will open their campaign on April 2 against  Hyderabad.

Rajasthan had a strong run in the previous season under the leadership of Sanju Samson, but they were unable to overcome the final obstacle against Gujarat as they suffered a seven-wicket loss in Ahmedabad. While Jos Buttler ended up winning the Orange Cap for the season, Samson was the hero of the entire season for the team. Samson scored 458 runs in 17 games over the tournament, with an astounding strike rate of 146.79.

What did World Cup winner Sreesanth say about Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson?

Sreesanth, the former Indian bowler, spoke in-depth about Samson and revealed that they had discussed areas where the wicketkeeper-batter might improve. Sreesanth, while talking to Star Sports, spoke about his conversation with the Rajasthan captain. He said, “Sanju (is) a very attacking captain and sometimes when the occasion comes, he has to step back a bit. That’s something I’ve been telling him.”

Sreesanth then further spoke about the tactics Sanju needs to work on. He added, “That’s one, maybe he might have to balance between attacking and defending. Even when it comes to captaincy, he’s still learning. But that will be one very important point when it comes to strengths and weaknesses. Sanju has to balance his thoughts and decision-making.”

Samson hasn’t managed to secure a spot in Team India’s XI, despite putting on aggressive displays in the Indian T20 League. In limited-overs cricket, the Kerala-born wicketkeeper-batter stayed in third place behind Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant, and even though Pant is still out following a car accident in December, Samson has been unable to crack the Indian limited-overs’ XI.

Samson isn’t in the squad for the current ODI series against Australia. Samson will be hoping for a great display in the Indian T20 League, to give the selectors a headache ahead of the World Cup
