‘Aisa kheech ke laafa dunga na’ – Fans slam former PCB chairman over his ‘Pakistan likely to play World Cup matches at neutral venue’ comments

The General Manager of the Apex Cricket Council, Wasim Khan stated that Pakistan Cricket Team may play their World Cup match in a neutral venue outside India. India’s participation in the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup and Pakistan’s participation in the ODI World  Cup later this year in October-November is the most hot topic going on social media right now.

The Indian Cricket Board made it clear that they will not be traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, whereas, on the other side, the Pakistan Cricket Board said that if India will not come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup then they will also not go to India to play the 50-over World Cup, which is scheduled to take place later this month.

In the latest development of the issue, according to ESPNcricinfo, the PCB and its counterpart are planning to compromise by finding a solution suitable for both countries after fighting for the biggest events of Asia and World.

I don’t know if it would take place here on in a different country but a neutral venue is highly likely: Wasim Khan

In the meantime, on the sidelines of the just-finished T20I series between Pakistan and Afghanistan, former PCB CEO Wasim revealed his prediction of how this dispute will develop and asserted that Pakistan may possibly play their world cup matches on a neutral venue.

“I don’t know if it would take place here on in a different country but a neutral venue is highly likely. I don’t think that Pakistan will play their matches in India. I think their matches will also be held at a neutral venue just like India’s Asia Cup matches,” opined Wasim when asked a question regarding the likely neutral venue for India’s Asia Cup fixtures.

It should be observed that the 2023 Asia Cup has been surrounded by controversy ever since ACC president and Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan in October of last year. Jay Shah has since been pushing to move the event to a neutral location.

Here’s how fans reacted on Wasim Khan’s statement:
