‘Arey bhai kehna kya chahte ho’ – Fans troll Punjab franchise over funny reel featuring Matthew Short ahead of Indian T20 League 2023

The Indian T20 League  (ITL) 2023 is around the corner as it is set to kick off on March 31 after the completion of the Women’s T20 League. The opening match of the cash-rich league will be played between the Chennai franchise and the defending champions Gujarat at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

The Punjab franchise will be locking horns against the Kolkata side in their opening fixture of the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League on Saturday, April 1, at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. For the 2023 edition, the Punjab management has appointed star India opener, Shikhar Dhawan as the franchise skipper

In the reel, the newly arrived Punjab franchise batter Matthew Short was seen with a comedian, Shashi where the latter asks the former who are you? on which the cricketer replies with a famour dialogue from Kabhi Khusi Kabhi Gam, which is “Chandu ke chacha ne chandu ki chachi ko chandni chowk mein chandi ke chamach se chatni chatayi. Chatni chatayi!”

Matthew Short replaces Jonny Bairstow for Indian T20 League 2023

Due to an injury, Jonny Bairstow will be unable to participate in the action of the forthcoming Indian T20 League. On Saturday, the Punjab franchise posted Bairstow’s absence on their social media accounts.

“IMPORTANT UPDATE!! We regret to inform you that our Sher Jonny Bairstow will not be a part of the ITL this season because of his injury. We wish him the best and look forward to seeing him in our colours next season. We are pleased to welcome Matthew Short as his replacement in the squad,” wrote the Punjab management on their social media handles.
