WATCH: Chennai team gets a grand welcome in Ahmedabad ahead of Indian T20 League opener against Gujarat

The Indian T20 League 2023 is around the corner as it is set to kick off on March 31 after the completion of the Women’s T20 League. The opening match of the cash-rich league will be played between the Chennai franchise and the defending champions Gujarat at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.

According to the organizers, the first game between Gujarat and Chennai is completely sold out. Gujarat will play a home game in front of their supporters for the first time. The teams did play in Ahmedabad for the ITL final the previous year, but it wasn’t a home game.

On one side, the Gujarat franchise will try to defend its title, while on the other, teams such as Delhi, Bangalore, Punjab, and Lucknow will try to clinch their maiden title. The tournament will be returning back to the home-and-away format after a long gap of four years.

Chennai is one of the franchises which gets support from all over the world. There is a video put by the Chennai side on their social media handle where the players get a grand welcome at the airport.

Many big stars to perform at the opening ceremony of the Indian T20 League 2023

Before the Indian T20 League opener on Friday, March 31 the opening ceremony will take place. According to Sportstar, popular singer Arijit Singh will reportedly perform during the opening ceremony. Tamannaah Bhatia, has been confirmed to appear in the ITL opening by the league’s official handles on social media.

Although the Indian Cricket Board is keeping quiet, as there are rumour that Rashmika Mandanna and a few other artists have been asked to perform at the occasion. The Narendra Modi Stadium, the biggest cricket arena in the world, may potentially host a unique laser show. The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 6 o’clock and last for roughly 45 minutes. The Opening ceremony can be watched on Jio Cinema and Star Sports Network.
