Shubman Gill achieves career-best position in ODI rankings for batsmen
Indian batter Shubman Gill has achieved his career-best position among the ODI batters in the recently released ranking by the Apex cricket council. The 23-year-old has moved to the fourth position, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are other Indian batters who are in the top 10.
Kohli has moved to the sixth position, while the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma remained static at the eighth position. Pakistani skipper, Babar Azam remains in the top position.
Gill has been in tremendous form in the past few months. The young batter played a crucial role for India in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. He scored three centuries from six matches which included a double ton against the Kiwis in the first ODI.
He has also shown great form in T20Is and Tests as well. Gill scored his maiden T20I ton against New Zealand and then scored a Test century in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj is the only Indian to be featured in the top 10 in the ODI bowlers’ ranking. The Indian pacer remains in the third position in a list that is led by the New Zealand pacer Trent Boult.
Kane Williamson had a big jump in the Test rankings
Suryakumar Yadav still remains in the top position among the T20I batters, while Indian T20I skipper Hardik Pandya remains static at the 2nd position in the list of all-rounders.
In Test rankings, New Zealand batter Kane Williamson climbed four positions to get to the second position among the batters. Rishabh Pant is the only Indian batter to feature in the top 10 on the list with the ninth position despite not playing cricket for the last three to four months.
Pant last played for India in December 2022. The 25-year-old met with a major car accident, due to which he didn’t feature in the recently ended Test series against Australia.
Marnus Labuschagne remains the number one Test batter, while Ravichandran Ashwin is leading the chart in the bowlers ranking. Meanwhile, Jadeja is the no.1 Test allrounder with Ashwin in the second position and Axar Patel at no.4.
