‘He should firstly be judged on his keeping……….’ – Former India cricketer backs KS Bharat to be in 3rd Test match vs England

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that KS Bharat should be the wicketkeeping option in the third Test match against England. Notably, KL Rahul has been ruled out of the third Test match, and there are reports that Dhruv Jurel may get the nod as the wicketkeeper in the third Test match after KS Bharat failed to produce runs with his bat in the first two Test matches for India.

However, the former India opener had backed KS Bharat to be in the third Test match despite his poor form. The well-renowned cricket commentator affirms that KS Bharat should be in the five Test matches, but at least he deserves to be a part of the team in the third Test match, which is slated to take place on February 15 in Rajkot.

“It’s been heard that Dhruv Jurel will be handed his debut cap. I am thinking whether it’s right or wrong. Only two Tests have happened. I want him (Bharat) to keep in all five, but if you still need batting that much, Bharat deserves to be given at least one more match. Feel KS Bharat should play because you are playing a keeper as a keeper,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

KS Bharat also batted decently in both innings in Hyderabad: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra feels KS Bharat should be judged as the wicketkeeper over any batter. The cricketer turned analyst believes that KS Bharat had battered greatly in the first Test match in Hyderabad, but he could have excelled more in batting to help India win the Test matches.

“I would say Srikar Bharat should firstly be judged on his keeping and I feel he is keeping decently. The pitches are difficult and that’s why you weren’t getting KL Rahul to keep. You said you wanted a specialist keeper. So he is doing his job fully as a specialist keeper. He also batted decently in both innings in Hyderabad. If he had played a little longer in the second innings, India might have even won the match,” he added further.
