‘He had opened up the laundry ……’ – Aakash Chopra hails Rohit Sharma after his sublime knock over traditional rivals Pakistan

Team India won their third ODI World Cup 2023 game against Pakistan by 7 wickets on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. initially struggled with the ball, but their tremendous comeback reduced the Pakistan team to just 191 runs. Moreover, the Men in Blue easily chased down the total in just 30 overs and placed themselves in the top spot in the ODI rankings as well as in the points table of the marquee event.

Following an emphatic win over traditional rivals, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra feels India’s skipper Rohit Sharma was batted against Pakistan as if he had opened up the laundry and was smashing all over the stadium. In addition, the well-renowned cricket commentator heaps of praise on Rohit Sharma for smashing great boundaries against some fantastic Pakistani bowlers.

“Small totals are tricky totals and you can get stuck sometimes. India was 2/3 against Australia. It [Rohit’s batting] was as if he had opened a laundry. He was smashing sixes everywhere and that too against bowlers whom we respect. Shaheen [Afridi], Haris [Rauf] and Hasan [Ali] – they are very decent bowlers. But Rohit made them look like pedestrian bowlers,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, the former India opener feels Rohit Sharma deserves the Man of the Match award for the outstanding knock he has played. However, India’s great seamer Jasprit Bumrah has been named Player of the Match owing to his great bowling spells against the Pakistan team. Notably, the right-arm pacer has become the joint leading wicket-taker of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Team India had already defeated Australia in their opening game, whereas they registered a magnificent win against Afghanistan before thrashing the Pakistan team.
