‘Achha comeback kiya bhaai ne’ – Fans react as India beat Ireland by 2 runs through DLS method to take 1-0 lead in three-match T20I series

The Men in Blue beat Ireland by two runs (DLS) to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Team India skipper Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. After being put to bat, the Irish team posted 139/7 runs owing to the magnificent knock by McCarthy, who hammered unbeaten 51 runs from just 33 balls featuring four boundaries and four sixes to post the respectable total against the visitors.

Notably, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, and Ravi Bishnoi had scalped two wickets each, whereas Arshdeep Singh also grabbed one wicket. Later, while chasing 140 runs, India had a great start as the star batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad looked into solid form as both the openers smashed 24 and 19*, respectively. Following this, the rain played spoilsport, which led to the great win for Jasprit Bumrah and Co. by two runs on August 18 in Dublin.

I was not really nervous but very happy to be back: Jasprit Bumrah

Meanwhile, stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah, who also won the Player of the Match award, expressed his happiness about the great comeback. Notably, the star pacer was not nervous about playing after an eleven-month gap. In addition, the right-arm seamer affirms that he was thinking more about his team than his own performance. Moreover, the 29-year-old cricketer says he practised a lot in the NCA, which did not make him feel anything new during the first match. Furthermore, the Mumbai Indians bowler also thanked the staff for keeping him in good spirits.

“I was not really nervous but very happy to be back. When you’re captaining you are thinking more about the whole team and not just your own performance. I felt very good. So many sessions I did at the NCA, did not feel I missed out a lot or was doing something new. Credit to the staff there, they kept me in good spirits. You are not thinking about yourself, you are thinking about others out there,” Bumrah said during the post-match presentation.
