Akash Deep likely to make his debut in 4th Test vs England: Reports

According to sources, Bengal pacer Akash Deep is anticipated to make his debut in the upcoming fourth Test match against England in Ranchi. Notably, the 27-year-old cricketer has been called up for the first time to the national team after halfway through the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England.

However, India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out due to workload from the upcoming fourth Test match against England. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep will likely have to take over the job of second seamer in the upcoming Test against the strong visiting sides as Rohit Sharma and Co. aim to win the fourth Test match to win the series.

Akash Deep claimed 11 wickets in two matches for India ‘A’ during the recent shadow tour against the England Lions. Meanwhile, India’s star pacer Mukesh Kumar suffered severely in his previous Test match, although he just took ten wickets in Bengal’s Ranji Trophy match against Bihar.

In place of Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar played the second Test in Vishakhapatnam, claiming one wicket at a low economy rate, while Bumrah finished with nine wickets. Despite bowling 12 overs in the match, Mukesh was unable to provide the home team with any sort of dominance.

The team management has chosen trusting alternatives from the local circuit, whereas Jasprit Bumrah is rested due to his workload and Mohammed Shami continues to recover from his injury. Notably, Team India has lost the opening Test game despite getting the lead in the first innings, but the hosts have bounced back in the second and third Test innings and kept India in the dominant position.

Meanwhile, in a press release, the Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah said that Bumrah had been released for the fourth Test. “The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times,” Shah stated in the release.
