‘I would be surprised if England beat India’ – Former batting legend makes bold call ahead of five-match Test series between India and England
Team India is all set to face England in the five matches of the Test series which is set to begin on January 25 in Hyderabad. Notably, the series sets to mark the preparation of the WTC 2025 Final, as India managed to get into the finals of WTC 2021 and WTC 2023. However, former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower makes a very bold call ahead of the Test series.
The former batting legend revealed that he will be surprised if England beats India on their home soil conditions. However, the former left-handed batter accepted that India is a very outstanding team in their conditions with world-class pacers and spinners. In addition, the wicketkeeper batter feels star cricketer Joe Root is set to play an important role for England against India.
“I am not doing prediction, but I would be surprised if England beat India in India. They are an outstanding and confident side in their own conditions, very well coached by Rahul Dravid. India has an outstanding attack. We talk a lot about their spinners, but their seamers are outstanding too and we must not underplay the danger they hold. I would say Root would be the most successful in India. I love his game and he is a very important guy for England. In the Indian batting line-up, I am not sure,” Andy Flower said in Hindustan Times.
It’s going to be fascinating to watch the very interesting tussle between India’s class bowlers: Andy Flower
Meanwhile, legendary cricketer Andy Flower says that it will be interesting to watch the tussle between host India and visiting sides England in the forthcoming Test series taking place from the 25th. Moreover, the 55-year-old cricketer feels it is a match between Indian bowlers and English batters.
“It’s going to be fascinating to watch the very interesting tussle between India’s class bowlers – both spinners and seamers — and the English batting line-up that is going to attack. I’m looking forward to it. There’s a lot happening quite quickly,” he added further.
