‘I thought it was a good call from….’ – Anil Kumble opens up on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s retiring hurt on Day 3 in Rajkot Test

Former India cricketer Anil Kumble has recently opened up about Yashasvi Jaiswal getting retired hurt on Day 3 of the third Test match taking place at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Notably, the star cricketer hammered 104 runs and stitched the great stand with star batter Shubman Gill before getting retired hurt in the game of Day 3 of the Rajkot Test.

However, Anil Kumble feels that it was the right call, as he was unable to bat in the game after the injury. The legendary cricketer says that even his physiotherapist came and advised him not to continue further in the game. In addition, the 53-year-old cricketer feels that if he had tried hard to bat, he could have continued, but getting retired hurt was a great decision in the game.

“Well, I don’t think he could continue because he did try. The physio came the first time and then he went back to bat. He tried again, but he couldn’t. If he could manage, I’m sure he would have continued to bat today. It’s just that, you know, he could not go on and it was affecting not just him,” Anil Kumble said on Jio Cinema.

Anil Kumble feels that Yashasvi Jaiswal does not want Shubman Gill to get out of the game, as he does not want his partner to get run out. Moreover, the 53-year-old cricketer feels it was a good call from star batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal as well as from the team management to pull him back on Day 3 of the third Test match in Rajkot.

“You don’t want a situation where the other partner, which is Shubman Gill, gets out, because it can happen in a partnership like this, where your partner’s unable to run and take those singles and then rotate strike. And then he’s struggling. So I thought it was a good call from Yashasvi and also from the team management to just pull him back,” he added further.
