Team India’s strength and conditioning coach, Ankit Kaliyar, shared his insights on the fitness of the team’s senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in his recent interview. Notably, both the star cricketers Rohit and Kohli were last seen in the ODI World Cup 2023, where the latter emerged as the leading run-scorer. On the other hand, Rohit did most of the damage in the powerplays, which gave India a flying start.
Ankit reveals that the 36-year-old skipper has great fitness. In addition, Ankit Kaliyar believes that the opening batter looks bulky, but he is fit and always passes the Yo-Yo Test at the time of selection and gets himself placed in the squad. Moreover, the strength coach called him one of the fittest players.
“Rohit Sharma is a fit player. He has good fitness. Rohit looks a bit bulky but he always passes the Yo-Yo test. He is as fit as Virat Kohli. He looks like he is bulky but we have seen him on the field. His agility and mobility is amazing. He is among the fittest cricketers,” Ankit Kaliyar said in a chat with the Times of India.

“Virat is a leading example when it comes to fitness. He has created a culture of fitness in the team. When your top player is so fit, then you become an example for others.
