‘Ashish bhai sahi bol rahe hain’ – Fans react as Ashish Nehra heaps praise on Rinku Singh despite loss in 3rd T20I vs Australia

Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India suffered a five-wicket loss over Australia during the third T20I game on November 28 at Guwahati. Notably, Team India posted a massive total of 222/3 in the given 20 overs, owing to flabbergasting performances by Team India. However, the side failed to defend the total. Following that, former India cricketer Ashish Nehra was seen praising Kolkata Knight Rider’s (KKR) star batter Rinku Singh despite the loss.

The 2011 ODI World Cup-winning member feels that Rinku has now been known as one of the most important players for his team, thanks to his batting brilliance, which makes sure his side wins the game over any opposition. In addition, the Gujarat Titans coach affirms that Rinku will definitely play the 50-over format in the coming years due to his phenomenal batting.

“We all have been discussing his role, his power. Not just about his batting, even with the way he throws himself on the field, it shows he is a great team man. He will be a great asset to Indian cricket. Yes, we are talking only about T20 cricket, but who knows tomorrow he can also be playing ODI cricket,” Ashish Nehra told JioCinema.

Rinku Singh should be looking to excel in all departments: Ashish Nehra

Nehra also feels that the 26-year-old batter can bat in the up-order, which may be from position 4 to 7, as per the situation that needs him to bat. Moreover, the cricketer-turned-commentator further says that the middle-order batter should not only play the role of finisher but should also aim to excel in all other departments as well.

“Coming back to Rinku Singh, he is someone who can even play up the order, I can see him playing in 50-over cricket going forward. He can bat at No. 4, No. 5 or No. 6. On any odd day, the Indian team can be 40 for 4 in 5-6 overs. And I hope Rinku Singh is ready to play any role, I hope he doesn’t want to be tagged himself as a finisher. He should be looking to excel in all departments,” he added further.
