Australian team members express their feelings about star Indian batter Virat Kohli

From June 7 to 11, the two nations will compete in the WTC final in London’s Kennington Oval. India will be competing in its second final after placing second in the inaugural WTC summit match in 2021. Prior to the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Australian cricket players discussed great Indian batter, Virat Kohli. The former India skipper was referred to by the Australians as a “superstar” and an “all-format great.”

He’s been a superstar for a long period of time: Steve Smith

Australian players were questioned about Kohli in a video that was shared on the apex cricket body’s official Instagram account. He was referred to as the “man of India” by all-rounder Cameron Green. He said, “He has been for quite a while and he’s been leading the team for the last decade basically and has been so successful.”

Seasoned Australian starting pitcher David Warner noted that Kohli has a tremendous cover drive, as he said, “One of the greats, I mean all-format great. Hopefully [he is] not so great this week.”  Usman Khawaja, the opener, called Kohli “competitive,” and left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc complimented the right-handed batter and made a joke. He said, “[He is] very skilful, dominated for a long time. I guess the backbone of the middle-order.”

The legendary Australian batsman Steve Smith, who frequently draws comparisons to Kohli, praised Kohli as he remarked, “Obviously, he’s been a superstar for a long period of time. [He] loves playing against Australia. Often scores runs against us, but hopefully, we can keep him quiet this week.”

The Australian skipper Pat Cummins also took his turn to compliment the Indian batting maestro and his game as he said, “Good player. Always seems like he is up for a fight.” In 24 Tests versus Australia, Kohli has amassed 1979 runs with an average of 48.26, alongside eight hundreds. His highest score of 186 came during the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad earlier this year.
