Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammed Rizwan likely to get hefty pay raises in their new contracts
According to reports, a few days ago, Pakistani cricket players requested that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) raise their salaries. Following that, the PCB took the decision to enormously pay its top cricketers. Notably, the PCB is willing to pay its top stars big salaries. Meanwhile, earlier, the PCB’s refusal to provide the top stars with appropriate contracts led players to be disappointed.
In addition, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the decision to increase the salaries of their top players by almost four times. According to sources, PCB’s A-category players, skipper Babar Azam, great opener Mohammad Rizwan, and star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, will be getting handsome amounts from now on as their old contracts have ended in the month of June.
According to ESPNCricinfo, these players are going to get a salary of PKR 4.5 million ($15,900 approximately) per month. Meanwhile, their usual monthly income was $4700. Notably, the raise in their salaries will give players huge motivation ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup.
Pakistan Cricket Board also decided to provide the player with a lot of flexibility
Notably, the Pakistan Cricket Board additionally decided to provide the player with a lot of flexibility in addition to the hefty salaries. In addition, their A-category players have been allowed to participate in one international T20 tournament per year, whereas B-category players can participate in two T20 tournaments, and C-Category players are eligible to play in three T20 leagues. Furthermore, the Pakistan team can indulge in any tournament league except the Indian Premier League due to the political tensions between these two countries.
Meanwhile, Pakistani cricketers are still paid much less than Indian players. Notably, the Indian Cricket Board assigns four grades to players: A+, A, B, and C. In addition, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rohit Sharma are all A+ players who earn 7 Crores per year, nearly six times more than A-category players in Pakistan after their new contracts. Players in Grade A receive Rs 5 crore annually, while Grade B players receive Rs 3 crore. Each Grade C player gets one crore per year.
